    Good morning, Flying Fish!

    Congratulations on an absolutely fantastic first meet of the season last night! We had so many amazing swims and we saw lots of smiles & fun happening all around. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help this meet run smoothly. I have attached the final meet results to this email so you can see how great we did!

    One meet down and on to the next one! Swimmer & volunteer sign ups are now OPEN for next Wednesday’s HOME meet against Chancellor Blue Dolphins. Please go ahead and declare your swimmer(s) as “attending” or “not attending” this meet so Coach Lindsay can start getting events settled.

    This is our first home meet of the summer, so we’ll need all hands on deck with volunteering! If you have been certified for a position, please sign up for that volunteer position for the meet & save the "untrained" positions for new swimmer families. If you are a returning swim family and you have not had someone certify for a position yet this summer, there is still time. Please make sure that gets done before this home meet!

    There are two new volunteer positions that require a little bit of training: Safety Marshall and Time Drops Tablet Operator.

    We will need both a male and a female Safety Marshall for each half of the meet. Safety Marshalls monitor the pool area and surroundings to maintain a safe environment. Per the RSL, starting with this 2025 swim season, Safety Marshalls now need to complete SafeSport Training. It’s not hard and it doesn’t take long to do the training, FYI! We will send an additional e-mail with the steps & links for SafeSport training.

    Additionally, we will need a Time Drops Tablet Operator for each half of the meet. The operator will stand next to the starter and referee and they are responsible for confirming proper connection of the Time Drops Controller and Lane Timer Buttons. They will keep the Time Drops system in sync with the current Event and Heat. They will also notify the Scorekeeper of any discrepancies between expected and actual swims. The operator will work with the Head Timer to replace a malfunctioning button, if needed.

    Unfortunately, there is no official RSL training for Time Drops, so it will be a “learning on the job” situation. We do have an amazing swim parent who has used the system before and he is willing to help new Operators figure it out. It’s not hard a hard job; it’s just new! We’ve got this!

    Finally, we are going to continue our dress-up themes for home meets. Wednesday’s meet will be Disney themed, so make sure to wear your Mouse Ears and other Disney character accessories as we make Ferry Farm pool the Most Magical Place in Fredericksburg.

    Important Updates

    Volunteer Requirements 

    All swimmers MUST have a parent or other adult volunteer for each meet they swim in.  The only exceptions are if all positions are already filled or the swimmer has a parent that is already actively involved with the team board.  If there is an open volunteer position and your swimmer does not have a parent/adult representative signed up to volunteer, you will be assigned a role or your swimmer will be scratched.

    Volunteer Incentive  

    Each volunteer position has been assigned a point value.  For each point, a raffle ticket will be given at sign in.  At the end of each meet, 2 names will be drawn and a $5 concession credit will be given to those volunteers.  At the end of season party, a name will be drawn for one free registration for next year.  If you have a senior swimmer, you can opt for a refund of this years fees.  Non-member fees will still apply.
